Jakarta Airport

From abroad you're arriving to Jakarta International Terminal 3 , for domestic flights you need to check your airline as some of them are using T3 and some of them T2 or T1 - Jakarta Domestic Terminal 2 and Terminal 1.

The easiest and fastest way to move between the terminals is the airport train - unfortunately it did not operate during the night hours. Without the train it takes some time to get from T3 to T2 or T1. There are taxis available, as in most airports, and also a free shuttle bus. It took us a while to find the bus stop and the correct bus, and the ride to Terminal 2 took around 15–20 minutes.

Turtle Conservation And Education Center

the official website: https://tcecserangan.jimdofree.com/

Six of the world’s seven species of sea turtle live in the waters around Indonesia. Although these species have been legally protected under conservation and fisheries laws since 1990, the illegal turtle trade continues to be a major problem in the region.

Historically, turtles were used in Balinese religious ceremonies. However, over time, it became a profitable business to meet the growing market demand for turtle meat and eggs.

TCEC's mission is to help phase out the turtle trade and support the local community by creating alternative sources of income. It serves as a breeding center, education hub, tourist destination, conservation site, and research facility. TCEC also plays a key role in providing opportunities for rare turtle species to return to Serangan Island.

It's important to remember that some places in Bali exploit tourists' awareness of the turtle conservation issue by posing as legitimate turtle protection centers. Always visit reputable centers, check their websites, their facilities, and the work they do. As a general rule: if you're allowed to touch a turtle, you're in the wrong place.

Due to climate change, rising sand temperatures on nesting beaches are skewing sea turtle reproduction, resulting in an overwhelming number of female hatchlings. Incubators not only protect turtle eggs from illegal trade but also allow for temperature control, helping to produce more male hatchlings.

TCEC cares for injured animals, some of which have become permanent residents because they would not survive in the wild.

There are two temples and a funeral site. The funeral site serves as a cemetery where bodies are kept until they are cremated in a ceremonial ritual. This cremation ceremony is held once every five years."

No matter which entrance you choose - everywhere you go it's beautiful. We opted for the last entrance. The first entrance—when coming from Ubud—seemed to be the busiest. The truth is, most tourists only visit the most accessible area, where the restaurants, swings, and photo platforms are located.

Ubud: KT. Kuaya Home Stay

A great place, very close to the town centre but on a quiet street. We booked a Suite with the pool view and terrace, which was at the back of the property in the garden. The scenery was beautiful, and both the pool and the villa were very clean and well equipped. Breakfast was included in the room price; we asked for fruit and coffee and received enough for a proper meal.

Tegalalang: Ubud Sawah Scenery Villa and Homestay: Villa with Private Pool

The whole property is amazing, with many options to choose from, and to be honest, the descriptions on Booking.com aren’t the best. Yet, we got exactly what we booked. There is a small restaurant and a few basic items to buy on site. The owners also rent bikes and scooters. Breakfast was included in the room price and served in the restaurant, but it was hard to get, so I can’t really comment as we only had it once. Our arrival was a bit odd – we arrived two hours before check-in, and the villa apparently wasn’t ready. I have no idea why they didn’t offer to let us leave our bags inside and go for a walk. We left the bags in the restaurant, but… it’s the small things that matter.

Bali’s ‘Uber’ is called Grab and Gojek. Both apps work well, offering fixed prices for car and motorbike rides, as well as very low prices for food deliveries (ordered through the apps). For short rides for two people, it was better to order two motorbikes rather than a car – it was quicker and cheaper.

For a day or half day tour, it’s better to find a local guy through Facebook and agree on the route and the price. They use WhatsApp, speak English, and will help you choose what to visit, find you the best place to buy local products.
